Tusheti is the best area in Georgia for different adventure activities and a new discovery for MTB lovers. Ancient villages, unchanged since the middle-ages, unique ethno-culture, typical only to this mountainous area and experience the legendary hospitality of the “Tush” people, ride dirt roads, and cross mountain passes with 360-degree views across the Greater Caucasus promise unforgettable memories of a lifetime.
Mountain biking in Tuschen is a real adventure and exceptional experience. Starting from Pschaveli village to Omalo is 70 km long but takes 4-5 hours. Because of the hard and long trip to Omalo, we’ll drive up to the Abano Pass (2860m) by 4x4 and from the pass will ride downhills to Omalo (about 35km).

We start exploring Tushety by visiting the shortest and closest valley and villages Shenako and Diklo. First you we’ll rid down to the river bank and then a rather strenuous uphill, where you might have to push the bike in certain places.
At Diklo the route ends at about 2kms away from the Russian border as we cycle through this hidden gem of wilderness. After visiting the ruins of fortress we’ll ride back to Omalo

The day to another valley, Pirikiti, with beautiful villages and viewpoints in front of us. On detour, we’ll visit the upper Omalo and Keselo fortresses. The ride to Piriqiti valley is on the bumpy mountain road thorough the pine forest alpine meadows on Ghele pass (. The village of Dartlo is where we stay overnight. After hotel check-in we’ll continue the second part of the day: will visit villages Chesho Pharsma and Girevi deeper into the valley.

Gomezari valley is the parallel valley to the south of Piriqiti valley. To get there we’ll ride back to Ghele pass and get to the highest populated place in Europe – village Bochorna (2345m). Our destination today is Jvarboseli village on the left side of the Alayani river where we stay overnight at the guesthouse

The way from Jvarboseli to Omalo is the same challenge, because of some strenuous ascents that the previous day we enjoyed to descend. On the way, we will have time to make a small detour to the village of Dotschu and explore the beautiful, unique architecture of the old village.

On our last day we’ll have two possibilities – to ride the whole route from Omalo to Letschuri over the pass, which takes about 7-8 hours by bike (69km) or to split it - first half up until the pass by car and then 34km by bike that takes 3-4 hours. In Lechuri we’ll be picked up and drive back to Tbilisi.
