They say, that no trip to Georgia would be complete without a visit to the Greater Caucasus mountains — the range that separates Georgia from Russia and gives the Trans-Caucasus region its name.
During the trip we’ll hike through the three most famous regions of south-eastern Caucasus - Kazbegi, Khevsureti and Tusheti
Out of all of Georgia’s mountainous regions Kazbegi is the most visited mountain region. Small town Stepantsminda formerly Kazbegi, situated 1750m above sea level is in the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of north-eastern Georgia.
Khevsureti is another beautiful and the most unspoilt and undiscovered mountainous region of eastern Georgia because of its majestic mountains, wild rivers, fortified villages, atmospheric abandoned settlements, ancient shrines scattered on the slopes and minimal tourist infrastructure.
Lying deep in the mountains, Tusheti is the most remote and isolated region of north-eastern Georgia. It’s located in the north-eastern corner of Georgia, bordered by Chechnya and Dagestan to the north and east. Hidden between pristine mountain peaks and valleys of the Caucasus, it has become one of the most welcoming destination. Tusheti houses the unique monuments of cultural heritage, ruined ancient villages, folk crafts, incomparable sceneries and Tushetian hospitality.
