This might become your favourite experience in Georgia. We drive in front, know the way and have prepared everything. You can focus entirely on your journey, where you are, what you see, what you experience. We are aiming for you to have a safe and satisfying self-drive 4×4 tour that gives you the chance to discover the mountains, lakes and waterfalls of Kakheti.
During the tour we stop on a regular basis to enjoy the landscapes and the breath taking sights. Sometimes we visit a town or village and go for coffee and tea. During a 4×4 holiday we are happy to surprise you with local specialties, share a quick meal with your own traveling buddies or go for an extensive group dinner. Decide yourself!
We explore all corners of the two most off the beaten National Parks – Tusheti & Vashlovani, driving our fully prepared and modified Toyota trucks.
Tusheti is just in a league of its own. Less developed, more remote and rougher than Vashlovani, including the approach over the Abano pass (2840m). Certainly the road is a challenge as it crosses several streams/rivers, can be narrow due to rock slides, and is generally very rutted or herders heading sheep and cows down the mountain along the road. You’ll love visiting this region for its mix of natural beauty, adventure, and relatively unspoilt culture.
Vashlovai NP located to the south-east side of Georgia. Bordering Azerbaijan. National park is known with its unique Geographical formations as it used to be a bottom of the sea 2 million years ago. Paradise for off-roaders, Photographers and Wildlife addicted people. Temperature is always much higher in Vashlovani NP Then in rest of Georgia.
Day 1: Tbilisi – Omalo
Tbilisi – Omalo Pick-up of our 4x4 vehicle. Then travel on the Gombori road to Kakheti region. We’ll visit local bazaar in Telavi to buy our picnic lunch and continue towards Tusheti. The road after the village of Lechuri is an unpaved off-road path, that is open only 4 months in the year. It's a steep and narrow road, but little to no mud, mostly gravel or rock. The main difficulty is traffic coming from the other direction, but it's manageable - not too much traffic, and every few hundred meters the road widens to allow two cars to pass. For sure you will see more of the scenery with a driver, given that you really have to focus on the road but driving there is really special challenge. Overnight at the local guesthouse • Total distance – 198km • Off road – 72km
Day 2: Omalo – Gometsari valley – Omalo
There are 4 valleys in Tuseti and we’ll explore 3 of them. Roads in Tusheti itself are more or less the same difficult than the Abano pass itself. Still there are some deep river crossings, steep and potentially muddy climbs. On our firs day we’ll discover several valley villages in Gometsari valley • Total distance – 65km
Day 3: Omalo – Piriqiti Valley – Omalo
We’ll cross Ghele pass, drive up to the view point on the pass and drive down to Village dartlo. After lunch we’ll visit several more villages deep into the valley and drive the same road back to Omalo. • Total distance – 75km
Day 4: Omalo – Telavi – Sighnagi
Drive the same road back to Kakheti. Overnight in Sighnaghi – the city of love. Dinner and wine tasting at the small family winery. overnight at the local guesthouse • Total distance - 155km • Off road – 72km
Day 5: Sighnagi – Erisimedi – Kvemo Kedi – Mjniskure
The day is at your disposal to explore completely different landscapes alongside the Alazani river. The first highlight is The village of Erisimedi (meaning The Hope of the Nation), Short turn to the south of the region and we will visit Abandoned Soviet military Airport, which is hundred percent worth it to see with your own eyes. The place nowadays is used by locals to storage the harvest. By the end of the day we’ll arrive to Mijniskure Bungalows – several cotteges located at the Alazani river bank where it turns the south to flow into Mingechauri water reservoir in Azerbaijan. Total distance – 122km. Total distance - 175km • Off road – 70km
Day 6: Mijniskure – Samukhi valley – Dali water reservoir

On detours into the valley we’ll discover some sea shell and eastern Caucasian elephant fossils in Pantishara canyon and swallow city. Afterwards we head to Mud-Volcanoes near the border of Azerbaijan. A mud volcano or mud dome is a landform created by the eruption of mud or slurries, water and gases. Several geological processes may cause the formation of mud volcanoes. Mud volcanoes are not true igneous volcanoes as they do not produce lava and are not necessarily driven by magmatic activity. The Earth continuously exudes a mud-like substance, which may sometimes be referred to as a "mud volcano". Mud volcanoes may range in size from merely 1 or 2 meters high and 1 or 2 meters. Overnight at the cottages near Dali water reservoir
Day 7: Dali water reservoir – Sabereebi – Udabno – Tbilisi
